Support Logistics Course
Introduction
The Supply Support Logistics Course (SSLC) Course is an intensive three-day training program designed to provide participants with an appreciation of the complexities and interrelationships of efforts required to achieve and maintain Supply Support Objectives for Equipment/Systems and Alteration/Modifications for Ships, Carriers, Submarines and Shore Sites.
The SSLC will help participants to understand Navy and DoD Supply Support elements which include (Acquisition Logistics, Maintenance Planning, Provisioning, Alteration Installation Management, Equipment/Ship Configuration Management, Ship/Equipment Alteration Development, Allowance Development, GF and CF Material asset management, Material Handling/Storage and Material Outfitting.
The SSLC covers the above Supply Support Elements for Ships / Carriers / Submarines during New Construction, Navy Modernization Periods and Pier Side AIT Installations. Also, includes all Shore Based Activity functions in obtaining Supply Support objectives and goals.
The course covers many policies, procedures, databases, and processes, which contribute to, or function within, the overall Supply Support objectives of the Navy Department. This includes the goals and objectives for new Equipment/System Acquisitions, New Ship Construction, Navy Modernization Process and Shore Activity functions. This also includes the policies for the ILS Cert Goals for Supply Support for Provisioning, Equipment/Ship Configuration Management, GF Material asset management and Material Outfitting process for Ships, Carriers and Submarines.
The SSLC is for government Civilian, Military, and Navy support contractor personnel, Department of Defense Contractors (Equipment/System Contractors, Shipbuilders and Ship Repair Contractors), personnel for example:
a. Civilian:
Logistics Management Specialists, Program Managers, Supply Support Managers, Alteration Installation Managers / Planners, Maintenance Planners, Engineers / Provisioners, Equipment Specialists, Inventory Managers, Material Managers, Supply Systems Analysts, Contract Specialists, and Certification/Metrics Specialists, etc..
b. Military:
Fleet Staff Officers, Fleet Maintenance Officers, Acquisition Program Managers, Commanding/Staff Officers of Headquarters Field Activities, Supply Officers, Store Keepers, Shipboard Leading Petty Officers, On-Board Maintenance personnel, 3M Coordinators, and Pre-Commissioning Unit Personnel, etc..
c. Navy Support / Private Contractors:
Support or private contractors providing Program Management, Acquisition Logistics Support, Alteration Installation Management, Alteration Planning, Maintenance Planning, Engineering, Supply Support, Provisioning, Equipment/Ship Configuration Management, Allowance Development, and Material Outfitting for New Construction shipbuilding, and Ships / Submarines undergoing Availability and Modernization through the Navy Modernization Process Management and Operations Manual.
d. Other Personnel:
This course is also for personnel involved in Logistics Support, Ship and Equipment Alteration Development, Planning, Budgeting, Contracting, and Execution of Modifications to Navy Ships / Submarines prior to, during and after New construction Shipbuilding, Pier Side Alteration Installations, Availability and Modernization periods.
